The Women of Inspiration Series
How it Started
The series started in 2012, first presented by Syncrude who remains an integral partner of Girls Inc., with a goal to recognize women throughout the Wood Buffalo region who inspire others, break new ground or old barriers and help create positive change. The series has honoured 97 inspiring women from the Wood Buffalo region, showing young girls positive role models who live right here.
Bouchier Partnered with Girls Inc.
In February 2019, Bouchier committed $125,000 over five years towards the Women of Inspiration program, Bouchier is committed to recognizing excellence in female leadership in Wood Buffalo.
Embarking on a renewed journey with a significant commitment of $75,000 over three years, and an option for a two-year extension, this alliance is initiating another phase entitled ‘Waves of Change: Charting the Path to Inspiration’.
Over the last ten years, Bouchier and Girls Inc. has maintained a close working partnership by supporting various programs, events and vehicle donations.

Where we are Now
The Women of Inspiration Celebration, presented by Bouchier, celebrated and honoured outstanding local women from the Wood Buffalo region who embodied what it means to be strong, smart, and bold. These women were recognized as leaders, changemakers, and inspirations whose stories encouraged girls and women across our community to see what is possible — because you can’t be what you can’t see.
Over the years, the celebration explored a variety of impactful themes. In 2020, we ‘shattered’ the (in)visible barriers surrounding the everyday lives of girls and women. In 2021, we brought those shattered pieces together to celebrate the rich ‘mosaic’ they created. In 2022, we amplified one another’s ‘voices’ represented within that mosaic. In 2023, we came ‘together’ to strengthen and empower those voices. In 2024, we encouraged reflection on the concept of ‘(Em)power’ and the ways each of us can ignite, impact, and inspire others. The 2025–2026 celebration explored the theme of ‘Innovators & Pioneers,’ recognizing remarkable local women who made significant contributions in STEM, entrepreneurship, and the creative industries, while inspiring future generations to dream boldly and lead confidently.
As the Women of Inspiration Celebration continues to evolve, Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta looks forward to introducing a refreshed vision and exciting new themes that will continue celebrating and uplifting women in our community for years to come.

2020/2021 - MOSAIC - Towards Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Fort McMurray (March 16) — Over 300 attendees joined Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta (Girls Inc.) in celebrating and awarding five local women at its MOSAIC: Women of Inspiration Virtual Celebration presented by Bouchier on March 8, 2021.
