Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta Opens Nominations for 2026–2027 Women of Inspiration Awards
Fort McMurray, AB — July 3, 2026 — Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026–2027 Women of Inspiration Awards. This year’s theme, Voices of Change, celebrates local women who defy stereotypes, drive positive change, and advocate for gender equality and social justice.
Since its inception in 2012, the Women of Inspiration series has honoured 102 remarkable women in the Wood Buffalo region, providing young girls with empowering role models who exemplify strength, intelligence, and boldness.
Three awards will be presented in March 2027:

- The STRONG Award – Celebrating a woman who champions wellness and empowers others to build foundations for lifelong well-being. This award honors someone who embodies personal strength, serving as a STRONG role model for the next generation.
- The SMART Award – Celebrating a woman who champions knowledge enrichment, lifelong learning, and drives innovation. This award honors someone who embodies ingenuity, serving as a SMART role model for the next generation.
- The BOLD Award – Celebrating a woman who champions social change, lifelong advocacy, and community action. This award honors someone who embodies courage, serving as a BOLD role model for the next generation.

Nomination deadlines:

Each round will culminate in the announcement of honorees, with the final celebration taking place in their honour and to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 6, 2027.
